Football Equipment Return

WE are going to have our Football Equipment Return this Thursday from 6:00 - 7:00 PM in the School hall. Please bring everything back except your game jersey and your game sox. Make sure everything is clean to the best of your ability. If you can't make it please call your coach to make another arrangement.

Varsity Practice Friday 10/24

Varsity practice has been moved to the school hall. No equipment required. Practice will be from 4:30 to 5:30. If your son is going to attend the pizza party Saturday night we need to know at tonights' practice. Please have him bring $7.00 to tonight's practice.

In support of the St. Joseph Crusader Athletic Teams we are calling on and encouraging all fans to wear GREEN to all play-off and championship games and for the students to wear GREEN tops on Friday for Spirit Day.

ST. Joe Varsity Football

We were able to secure Gilbert Park for our Wednesday Night Practice. We will practice at our regular time on Wednesday 6:30 to 8:30.  The Town-Hall meeting has been postponed. The rest of the week will stay the same as always.

 

Saturday night after mass we will be having a pizza party for the JV and Varsity players. The party will be held at the Orchard Brook club house. The party is for players and Coaches only. The cost is 7.00 per player. We will need to know by Wednesday if your son will attend. We will start after mass and end at 8:00. Parents are responsible to get their son to and from the party.

 

Since we are all new to the Championship Football games, I thought you all need to know that there is a fee to watch the games much like basketball or volleyball. 5.00 per family or 3.00 per adult and 2.00 per student. It costs the SPFL over $2000 to stage this championship event. There will be concessions provided by the college.

 

Like you've done all season long show complete sportsmanship when cheering on our players. The games take place at North Central College and all the fans from both Teams will be sitting on the same side.

8th GRADE LAST HIT

Thursday Night Oct 16 at 8:00pm will be last hit night for our 8th Grade Football players. Last hit is the night when our 8th grade players convey to us what St. Joe football has meant to them. They will also take a last hit on the upright dummy bag. In a way, this is also a passing of the guard from one group to the next.. We welcome all parents, relatives,friends and former players to be a part of this great St.Joe football tradition. At the end of last hit a football is handed down from an 8th grade player to a 7th grade player. The football symbolizes dedication and leadership to St. Joe Football. Please come out and support these athletes and this special tradition.

This past Sunday was a special day to be a Crusader Football player. This was the first time in Crusader Football History we won all FOUR games. As Coaches we'd like to thank our Football Players for their hard work at practice and their dedication to ST. Joe Football. Crusader Pride never shined brighter.

The game this weekend will be on Sunday at Visitation (Plunkett Field). The JV game will be at 10:00am with the "B" game to follow. The Varsity will begin at 1:00pm with the "B" game to follow.

Game Day Volunteers

Dear Football Parents,

 

Gridiron Gameday is fast approaching and we want to get off to a winning start!

 

This is to outline "Volunteer" signup opportunities for the upcoming St. Joseph's home football games.  Parents are required to work two shifts per season per athlete.  We are grateful to the many who have volunteered to help more often – this is greatly appreciated.

 

When you sign up for a shift, you have 4 roles to choose from:

• The counter – fill orders and sell
• The grill – cook brats, hotdogs, sandwiches
• Beverage supplier – bring and ice soda, Gatorade or water (this person needs to be able to deliver drinks by 10:00 AM on game day but this frees you up from working during the games.  This role works well for JV parents since the time coincides with the JV player pre-game drop off time.   It is also a good option if you have both a JV and Varsity player or younger children. 
• Chain gang – run down markers during game.

 

The schedule is divided between JV and Varsity, with Varsity parents scheduled to work during the JV game and JV parents during the Varsity game (this enables you to watch your son playing!)  If you are unable to attend the game you are scheduled for, it is your responsibility to switch with someone else for a different game, or find another parent to fill in for your shift.  Due to safety regulations, unfortunately no younger siblings are allowed in the concession area.

 

Parents are needed to be at the Concession stand by 10:30 AM for the JV shift (Varsity Parents) and 12:45 for the Varsity (JV Parents) shift.

 

WHY DO WE DO THIS? – The money we raise from football concessions alone greatly reduces the costs and fees for ALL athletic programs at St. Joes.  Your cooperation and support is greatly appreciated. 

 

Please look at the separate blog note titled "Concession Shift Signups" for game dates/times.  Send an email with your preferred shift choices.  If you are new and need more information as to how this works – this information will also be covered at the parent meeting or feel free to contact us.

Player Eligibility

All players are required to practice 12 full practices from the August 11 start date to be eligible to play in the first game on August 31. As of  today, August 13, we have 13 practices left before our first game. This is a League rule. All League rules and Team schedules can be viewed at the League web site www.spfl.org

Montini High School Football Jamboree

We will be playing in the Football Jamboree at Montini High School on Saturday August 23. We need all players from the JV and Varsity to arive by 11:00am. We will wear our practice jersey and pants to this scrimmage. Lunch will be provided for all players and Coaches. The day will end by 3:30

Parent Meeting And Pizza Party

The 2008 Footbal Parent Meeting and Pizza party will take place Friday Aug 22 at Gilbert Park at 7:30pm. We have secured the shelter at Gilbert for this event.

Equipment Pick-up #2

For those players who missed the first equipment pick-up,we will be handing out equipment on Tuesday August 5 in the school hall at 6:00pm. Contact Tom Novotny or Dave Edwards for further assistance.

Varsity Practice

St. Joe Varsity football practice will begin August 11 at 6:30 at Gilbert park. We will practice for 2 hours. We recommend Parents return to Gilbert 15 minutes prior to the end of practice to pick their player up. Its also a good idea to keep an eye on the weather. If the weather gets bad please return to the park to pick your son up. August 11 and 12 are helmets and shoulder pads only. August 13 starts full equipment. We will practice 5 nights a week until our first game. Once the season starts we will practice Tuesday,Thursday and Friday. All practices for the Varsity will be from 6:30 to 8:30
